LinkedIn conversions for Microsoft Bookings

B2B teams often run LinkedIn campaigns to a "book a demo" page and then lose the trail at the Microsoft Bookings link. BookingsXP fires your LinkedIn conversion from your own page when the booking is confirmed, so Campaign Manager reports booked meetings rather than clicks.

Plan
Plan: ProNeeds Pro ($19 a month) or Business ($49 a month).
In short
A LinkedIn conversion on each confirmed booking, fired with lintrk from the Insight Tag already on your page.
Microsoft Bookings
Stays your system of record. Bookings land in Outlook and Teams and Microsoft sends the invites and reminders.

How it works

What happens with LinkedIn Insight Tag

  • You enter a partner ID and a conversion ID in the widget's Tracking tab.
  • On booking_completed, if window.lintrk exists, the loader calls window.lintrk('track', { conversion_id }). Numeric IDs are sent as numbers, as LinkedIn expects.
  • The partner ID is used on the hosted booking page, which loads the Insight Tag itself. On your own site, the Insight Tag you already installed does that job.
  • The li_fat_id click parameter from LinkedIn ads is stored with the booking's attribution and appears in the booking notes as the ad click type.

Setup

Set up LinkedIn Insight Tag

5 steps. Names of menus and buttons are as they appear today; vendors rename things, so look for the closest match.
  1. Step 1: Install the Insight Tag

Campaign Manager → Data → Insight Tag. Add it to your site (directly or via GTM) so window.lintrk exists on the booking page.

  2. Step 2: Create a conversion

Campaign Manager → Data → Conversion tracking → Create conversion. Choose an event-specific (JavaScript) method rather than a page-load URL, and a category such as "Book appointment". LinkedIn renames these menus from time to time; the ID is what matters.

  3. Step 3: Copy the conversion ID

LinkedIn shows a snippet with a numeric conversion_id. That number goes into the widget.

    From LinkedIn's snippet
    window.lintrk('track', { conversion_id: 12345678 });
  4. Step 4: Paste both IDs into the widget

Dashboard → widget → Tracking → Ad conversions → "LinkedIn partner ID" and "Conversion ID". Save. These fields need Pro.

  5. Step 5: Confirm it arrives

Make a test booking and check the conversion's status in Campaign Manager. LinkedIn can take several hours to show a new conversion as active.

Outcomes and caveats

What you get

The result

  • Booked meetings as LinkedIn conversions, usable for campaign reporting and conversion-optimised bidding.
  • No custom JavaScript on your site beyond the Insight Tag.
  • LinkedIn ad clicks recorded against each booking in Microsoft Bookings notes and webhooks.

Good to know

Limits and caveats

  • Pro plan. On Free, a GTM Custom HTML tag on bookingsxp.booking_completed can call lintrk the same way.
  • No transaction ID is sent; LinkedIn's conversion counting settings decide how repeat bookings are counted.
  • No customer data is sent to LinkedIn.
  • The Insight Tag must be allowed by your cookie banner for conversions to fire in consent-gated regions.
